In the confusion Barbara evacuates her father and the costumed villains escape the premises. Batman treats her pretty similarly to Dick in that he watches from afar and helps her, all the while hoping she'll give up and go back to being a normal citizen. Batgirl lassos a rope and tethers herself to the aircraft.
But I know her much better as Oracle (a role she filled beautifully) than as Batgirl. I would recommend this is just for a look the great panels and visuals that Martin and Lopez put on the page.Fantastic.
There is also a nice amount of romantic tension, something that superhero comics (despite all of their "love interests") often fall short with.A gem of a book I could genuinely pick up at any point in my life and still enjoy reading. Let them think they have the upper hand over the little girl. Batgirl: Year One was a 9-issue mini-series published during 2003. Obvious. If I am being completely honest with myself this would be more of a 3.5 but the things I loved about it outweigh the bad so 4 stars it is. The Moth gets away, but Barbara catches Batman's attention who takes her to the Batcave. Robin swoops in to catch her, admitting that Batman cut her rope with a Barbara wakes in front of her house, without her cowl on. An injured Killer Moth and Firefly are apprehended by Batman and Robin while Barbara watches from a distance, chagrined that while she did all the work they'll be getting all the credit. This was (I think) my first standalone Batgirl encounter and I really liked her. To me, Batgirl has always had more of a fluid origin story.
Batman tells Gordon that he wishes to take Batgirl under his wing and asks for approval.
Gordon says he won't allow it, since he believes his daughter to be Batgirl.
I found it really easy to route for her.
I enjoyed this book a lot! Barbara thanks Jason for trying to save her dad, but he feels that he failed nonetheless and acknowledges that his injury means he will have to leave the force. Looking for an outlet for his sadistic tendencies, Lynns offer to help Killer Moth exact revenge on Batgirl and form a criminal partnership.
However, Batgirl was just plain annoying. Barbara Gordon, following her chance meeting with Robin at the end of ROBIN: YEAR ONE, aspires to become a vigilante herself. My one complaint is that I believe this was the book that said Babs was too short forA gem of a book I could genuinely pick up at any point in my life and still enjoy reading. I foundI think this might be my favorite Batgirl story so far. [She begins with stopping Killer Moth from kidnapping Bruce Wayne. Barbara Gordon is a bright and eager young woman who has already achieved much in her life but struggles to find her true calling. Let them relax while the adrenaline leaks out of their systems. The artwork is more modern, borrowed from a more recent tv series. Her father attempts to console her by inviting her to a Captain Gordon intervenes but is knocked unconscious. Then again, at least fans of the Batman animated series from the early 90's will enjoy it.
I mean, yes, girls are just as great as guys. There are murders, arsonists and gangsters that make the story pretty serious, but not too serious. As she learns the ropes of the vigilante lifestyle, she finds herself thrown into conflict with Barbara Gordon dressed as Batgirl, facing down the villain The story then flashes back to days earlier, at the home she shares with her father, Seeing the traditional avenues of crime-fighting closed to her, Barbara finds inspiration in the exploits of costume vigilantes, particularly the superheroine Barbara arrives at the meeting point the next night, only to be confronted by the JSA member Disheartened, Barbara falls into a slump for several days. the art is gorgeous, the coloring is divine and the writing is fabulous.
To me, Batgirl has always had more of a fluid origin story. Barbara narrates and often has humorous monologue and a down-to-earth attitude even when dealing with mad criminals and Batman himself. RECOMMENDED READING. Let them believe they're closing their grips on a shrinking violet. Barbara reassures him that he will be able to find work in other fields.

One of the best batgirl stories ever told!Batgirl year one is just like batman year one or robin year one.Anyways in this story Barbara Gordon wants to be in the CIA yet cant cause she doesn't reach the height to become an agent.I don't get that part because in the other comics shes really tall but i bet she has her other reasons to become a hero,otherwise babs decides to become a crime fighter named batgirl. I would recommend this is just for a look the great panels and visuals that Martin and Lopez put on the page.First of all, the art is fantastic. That will be their weakness.
